One of our lovely sales associate came in this morning with a bra issue that needed fixing stat! She was wearing one of those sheer shirts that is so popular this summer…the only problem, no bra she owned was working.

The Belle Mode team went straight to work to find a solution. We came up with three great options for underneath sheer tops:

Option 1: Seamless Nude Bra

Option 2: Embrace the sheer and go for color!

Did you know that the lifespan of a bra is really only 8-12 months if you wear it a few times a week? And if bras are not handled correctly, they will wear out even faster.  Here are tips from a professional on how to take care of your lingerie in a more effective manor!

Washing: Bras retain their shape, color, and fit when they are hand washed ... but if you can't hand wash them there are other ways to prolong their life

It's best to do separate loads for different color bras; one load for darks and one load for lights. If you don't want to hand wash or don't have the time, you can put them in a mesh lingerie wash bag (see pic below) and send them through the delicate cycle in the machine. Be sure to hook the bra together in the back so that the hooks don't get caught or tangled.

The detergent you use to wash your bras in plays a huge roll in how long they will hold up. This is due to chemicals that break down the elastic bands leaving them permanently stretched out. We suggest you get a special detergent to use on your delicates like Soak, Forever New or Woolite.  We carry the Soak product in our store and is amazing, come get your free sample today!

Drying: AIR DRY ONLY

Putting bras into a hot spinning dryer is the best way for them to lose thier elasticity. Lay them flat on a drying rack or off a doorknob and out of direct sunlight to keep them in the best shape.

Storing: Make room to properly store your bras!

All bras should be stacked in a drawer, hung on hangers (see pic below) or on a shelf and not folded in any way. The biggest mistake most women make is when they turn one cup inside out and fold the two cups together. Permanent creases can be made when doing so.

The Importance of a Good Bra

Medical experts in several different fields of medicine agree that the importance of a proper bra is undervalued by most women.  In fact, it has been estimated that 80-85% of American women are wearing the wrong bra size!  A bra that does not fit correctly can result in back and shoulder pain, improper posture, an uncomfortable or exhausted feeling, or even failure of the lymph nodes to adequately drain (which leads to many more health issues itself).

This all makes sense.  If you think about it, your bra is working around the clock for you, supporting the girls all day long!  If the bra you have been wearing has not been doing its job accurately then you are in for some physical damage down the road for sure.

On top of an improvement in your physical health, wearing a suitable bra for your body figure will boost a women's self-image and make her look and feel like a million dollars!  No more uncontrollable cleavage spilling out the top of your shirt, no more back fat, no more visible lines through your shirt, no more red marks on your back, etc.  The right bra will uplift your boobs as well as your spirit!

Remember a woman should always be wearing undergarments that are flattering, well fitted and proportional, and suite the purpose you are trying to achieve.  Being a woman is stressful enough, we don't need something that we can control, such as wearing an ill fitted bra, ruin our day.
